The Gamification network holds its next event at Bath Ventures Innovation Centre

AUDIENCE & EXTRAS WANTED FOR FILMING :
ENJOY THE PRESENTATION, BEER, GAMES &
CONVERSATION AS OUR GUEST

When: 21st October 2011, 5:30pm

Speaker: Anja – Karina Pahl

Find out:

• why Innovation Managers and Engineers should gamify problem-solving
• how gamification can turn high-tech to high-touch and high empathy
• how to recognise the fundamental pattern that’s intrinsic to universal creation, mass
collaboration, team communication and everyday product development
• How to do what you already do – better, and almost 300% faster than you imagined
possible

Its a happy accident that scientific breakthroughs can be applied more quickly, easily and beautifully as a Game. Anja’s own breakthrough system is run as innovation games and gamified programmes for top 500 companies in Aerospace, Medicine and Banking. It may also open up a new area for technical engagement and collaboration between Industry, Charity, University and the Community – a potentially massive multiplayer Game for the Greater Good.

Hosted by The PRIZM Game Company and Bath Ventures Innovation Centre

Gamification Network launches in Bath 5pm Friday 7th Oct

The Gamification Network is launching at the Innovation Centre in Bath this Friday with guest speaker Prof.Sarah de Freitas, Director of the
Serious Games Institute and Fast Company’s ‘Most Influential Woman in Technology’

If you want to capture the power of game-play for business or innovation you’re not alone – a survey by Gartner showed that ‘by 2015, more than
50% of companies that manage innovation will gamify their processes’

Games don’t just make incredible profits in Apps and online. They’re mechanisms for working better, improving productivity and motivating
behaviour across the board – from street kids to CEOs.

Our 10th event was a massive success last week with our new format going down well with all the attendees.

Below you can see the full interview by Chris Book with Stephen Mellish of Radical Company.

Barcamping for mobile app & web service developers

Friday 8th July 2011 – 9am to lunch

This event has now taken place

Bath Ventures Innovation Centre Broad Quay, Bath, BA1 1UD

openMIC notches up its first ten barcamps next month with an appfest in Bath. Regular openMIC barcampers will notice a few changes to our regular format this time which will include the following:

10 Q’s from the Camp Chief

After Coffee & Registration we’ll be kicking-off the morning with Camp Chief, Chris Book (@bookmeister) interviewing a top UK app developer Stephen Mellish, Head of Mobile, Radical Company – Chris gets to pose 10 of your questions.

What do you want him to ask?

10X4 Pitches

The next Session will be ten stand-up slots for four minute pitches. Pitch slots are open to all openMIC barcampers to apply for – just let us know which of the categories below you want to appear in and let us have a 140-character description, title, or whatever on what you’re pitching about. We’ll be needing those pitch applications in by Friday 1st July though.

10X4 Pitches Categories:

Fav. App: Pitch & bitch on what’s great or not-so -great about your favourite app. Why you downloaded it, paid for it & use it. And what needs to happen next for you to keep it, upgrade it or recommend it.

Start-App: Got an idea for an app? This session gives you the chance to pitch for partners, funders and developers. Beware it’s an open forum, but openMIC does gather some of the finest developer minds on the planet (s), so if your idea can make it here, you can make it anywhere.

Mi-App: Built an app? Your mother must be proud. Pitch up in this session and tell us about it. What did you learn in the process, what do you like about it what you would you or could you have done differently? We believe that success is contagious, so successful app developers please apply for a pitch in this category and help us all become better developers!

Roundtables

After the 10X4 there will be roundtables and plenty of opportunities to network and discuss some of the themes coming out of the earlier session.

Lunch

HKB of course. Free lunch at the Hong Kong Bistro for all barcampers.

Registration is free for up to 60 delegates – Pitchers get priority places.

Mobile Commerce, the UK’s leading provider of location-based services (LBS) and mobile content integration, has partnered with National Rail Enquiries to launch the National Rail Enquiries App for the Vodafone 360 app store.

Utilising National Rail Enquires’ definitive information on all passenger rail services on the National Rail network in England, Wales and Scotland, the app provides live departure and arrival information for all National Rail stations. The app also offers a full journey planner for rail routes across the UK, which provides the quickest route for a chosen journey.

As well as offering the type of travel information you’d find on a website, the app uses handset location to display the nearest stations and stores recent stations and journeys. It also includes a real-time progress indicator to show where the train is on the route.

The app is available for Vodafone’s tailor-made touch screen handsets – the Vodafone 360 Samsung H1 and Vodafone 360 Samsung M1 – as well as a range of Android handsets.

Steve Page, Mobile Commerce CEO, said: “We’re delighted to have worked with National Rail Enquires on this app and I believe it will become the most popular app Mobile Commerce has worked on to date. It offers everything the rail traveller needs, in real time, and from the convenience of their phone with just a touch of the screen. We’re looking forward to Vodafone’s customers benefiting from both our expertise in mobile and National Rail enquiries’ comprehensive information service to help make their journeys quicker and easier to plan.”

The National Rail Enquiries app for Vodafone 360 is available from the Vodafone 360 app store for a one off cost of £2.99.
